Disaster Risk Reduction

Home / Disaster Risk Reduction

Programme Overview

Since its inception, we have actively engaged in Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation, enhancing our internal capabilities to respond swiftly and effectively to any casualties. Disasters have the potential to disrupt lives, livelihoods, and ecosystems; we have built strong internal capabilities to respond quickly, efficiently, and with compassion during emergencies. All our rural initiatives emphasise strengthening local capacity.

In the event of a disaster, PRIDE India aims to provide immediate aid to help people cope more effectively. In the past, we have supplied relief items such as food, clothing, and clean drinking water to affected victims to help them manage stress. We have also organised rehabilitation efforts, such as building homes, to address urgent needs.

Our approach during any crisis

Immediate Relief

Rapid deployment of food, clean drinking water, clothing, and medical care to mitigate the physical and emotional trauma of victims.

Rehabilitation & Rebuilding

Infrastructure support, such as building homes and restoring livelihoods.

Proactive Preparedness

Empowering rural communities through disaster management training and advocacy to ensure they are never caught off guard.

In 2015-16, we trained 75 community representatives across 12 villages, creating a ripple effect that educated over 250 villagers in emergency response. We also believe in strategic advocacy by collaborating with officials from the Revenue Department; we bridge the gap between government resources and rural needs. During severe droughts, we have deployed emergency water tankers to villages surrounding our SPARSH Hospital, coupled with intensive awareness campaigns on water and sanitation to prevent the spread of disease.
