Empowering women & Sustaining ecosystems

Home / Project / Empowering women & Sustaining ecosystems

In many rural communities, women play a central role in managing households, livelihoods, and natural resources – yet have limited access to income opportunities, financial services, and decision-making spaces.

This programme works with women to strengthen livelihoods while enabling them to take a more active role in their communities.

In Mahad, PRIDE India supports women through skills, enterprise development, and access to markets and finance. Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are at the centre of this effort – creating a platform for collective action, financial independence, and leadership.

At the same time, the programme promotes sustainable practices in agriculture and natural resource management. Women are supported in adopting climate-resilient farming practices, reducing waste, and using resources more efficiently, linking livelihoods with environmental sustainability.

Through this work, women can increase their incomes, access financial services, and participate more actively in local decision-making.

PRIDE India is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1982. We work with communities to help them become self-reliant.
